blind lemon sunday 21st march in the beergarden from 2pm

The modern revival of blues and roots music has come as no surprise to Blind Lemon. To them artists such as John Butler, Pete Murray, Jack Johnson and Ben Harper are making it big playing the style of music these guys have always listened to. It is only recently they have been able to listen to their music on mainstream FM radio stations. Having been a consistent fixture on the Gold Coast live music scene since 2000, Blind Lemon are now forging ahead as an original blues roots outfit that is destined for big things. Their debut album was greeted with critical acclaim and achieved nationwide airplay. It also secured them a solid live following from Coffs Harbour to the Sunshine Coast, headline performances at venues including the Healer in Brisbane, The Basement in Sydney and the Beach Hotel at Byron Bay, supports for Dave Hole, Harper and the Bondi Cigars, performances with Phil Manning, Phil Emmanuel and Kevin Borich, and invitations to play at many festivals including Blues on Broadbeach (5 years running), the Gympie Muster, Stradbroke Island Blues Festival, Brisbane Blues Festival and the (in)famous Verridale Moondance Festivals.
The interplay on stage between the harmonica of Jamie Symons and guitar of Andrew Baxter grows in every show and gives their performances a real “anything can happen” energy that keeps audiences on the edge of their seats. Coupled with dynamics and song craft honed from hundreds of live shows, Blind Lemon’s live sound is refreshingly multi faceted and vibrant. It is evident that Blind Lemon focus on their live performances, and that their live performances are focussed not on shoe gazing whines, but on getting up and entertaining an audience. Come along and be entertained!

chase the sun, cass eager and claude hay wednesday 31 march downstairs @ 9pm

Chase The Sun have seen their star rise steadily since their 2006 formation. The trio of Jan Rynsaardt, Ryan Van Gennip and Jon ‘Howler’ Howell haven’t looked back, with the East Coast starting to catch on to what a rocking outfit the band is, and festival invitations for the band starting to roll in as word of mouth on the band spreads. This will be their 4th performance at the Seaview - who are massive fans of these boys - 1 minute they are playing blues, the next calypso - it's awesome.
And back again for her 2nd time playing with Chase the Sun @ the Seaview, is Cass Eager. Cass Eager’s sound travels the gamut from soul to blues, folk to funk and roots to reggae. Her distinctive pipes and guitar playing have drawn comparisons to everyone from Bonnie Raitt to Jack Johnson, Nina Simone and Ben Harper . . . with a hint of Janis Joplin always thrown in. Despite these comparisons, ‘soul sister Cass is no pale imitation’ (NDL). She’s been described as ‘one of Sydney’s most gifted singer songwriters, whose refreshingly honest, raspy, almost Joplin-esque like voice is hers alone, and whose eclectic songwriting will spellbind the listener.’ (Drum Media). On stage, Cass is armed with an acoustic and lap steel guitar, electric ukulele and stompbox.
And also in the line up of this fantastic evening to be is another great performer Claude Hay. Hailing from Sydney’s Blue Mountains, blues and roots solo artist Claude Hay is a rarity in today’s musical landscape; laying down a modern version of what, in another age, would have been called a one man band. Claude fuses slide guitar, sitar, bass and electronic percussion in a loop-driven edge-of-the-seat live show that invokes the best of stomping trad blues with funk-dance edge that is making people’s ears stand up and take notice.
